Code for Blue – Acting together to care for the water around our school

Our Goal:
The Code for Blue program is a pilot project in transformative education about water resource protection, inspired by Ewa Ewart’s documentary “To the Last Drop.” Its goal is to equip teachers and students (ages 12–18) with knowledge and tools to identify issues related to water resources and implement real solutions within their surroundings. Target groups: 30 teachers from 15 schools in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. At least 150 students aged 12–18, as well as school management representatives

Duration: The project will be implemented from April 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026.

Main activities

Preparation and recruitment (April–September 2025)

Open recruitment of 15 schools from the Podlaskie Voivodeship (especially those near water resources)

  • Screening of the film “To the Last Drop”
  • Online meetings with the film’s creators
  • In-person workshop on the Code for Green method and design thinking
  • Self-paced learning on the foundation’s e-learning platform
  • Developing skills in water education and student-centered teaching methods
Teacher mentoring (September 2025–June 2026)
  • Individual mentoring and expert support for teachers (3 hours per month)
  • Thematic consultations (water resource protection, design thinking, project-based learning)
  • Implementation of 15 student projects within local communities
  • Financial support for projects (up to PLN 2,000 per school)
  • Creating case studies and lesson plans based on the completed projects

Increased participant knowledge in water resource protection

Implementation of 15 student-led initiatives within local communities

Creation of 15 case studies and 30 lesson plans

Increased youth initiative in addressing climate change

Development of teachers’ skills in innovative teaching methods
